Colombia has a strong coal mining production, being the 10th world largest producer. The country also produces nickel (21.2% of its mining industry) and gold (14.6%).
The central region – Cundinamarca and Boyaca mainly – produces high quality metallurgic coal and there over 300 coal mines.
