Colombia has a strong coal mining production, being the 10th world largest producer. The country also produces nickel (21.2% of its mining industry) and gold (14.6%).

The central region – Cundinamarca and Boyaca mainly – produces high quality metallurgic coal and there over 300 coal mines.

Bogota is by far the largest city in the country in terms of new real estate project development, which in total accounts for 27% (6,900,000 sq. meters) of the area currently under construction nationwide. Corporate and housing infrastructure (offices, warehouses and trade) are the main segments for new investment opportunities in the construction sector.

Infrastructure for Tourism

Bogota is the main destination for international travelers visiting Colombia. The rise of Bogota in the regional economic and tourism scenario has led the number of annual foreigns to grow three-fold over the past 10 years. With over 25 hotel projects developed in recent years, Bogota has been an important diver in the US$ 3.5 billion of foreign investment in the hospitality sector that Colombia received between 2005 and 2010.
