How To Invest In Colombia
The principles that direct foreign investment in Colombia are: equality in treatment, universality, automaticity, and speed.
It is considered that the investment is direct to the following:
The acquisition of shares, shares, social quotas, contributions representing the capital of a company or bonds obligatorily convertible into shares.
The acquisition of rights or interests in fiduciary business conducted with fiduciary companies through the inspection and supervision of the Financial Superintendence of Colombia. The acquisition of real estate, directly or through the conclusion of fiduciary business, or as a result of a real estate title process of a building or construction projects.
The contributions made by the investor for acts or contracts, stories such as collaboration, concession, administration services, license or those involving technology transfer, when this does not represent a stake in a company and the income generated by the investment for its titular holder of the utilities of the company.
Supplementary investments to the assigned capital of the branches. - Investments in private equity funds.
Foreign investment only requires authorization or recognition by ministries or superintendencies, in the case of special regimes in the following sectors:
Insurer and financier
On the other hand, Colombia has ratified nine double taxation agreements that aim to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion by taxpayers in terms of income taxes and wealth.
Also, to date, Colombia has ratified 18 free trade agreements that give access to more than 1,500 million consumers and preferred treatments on customs duties (tariffs) in more than 45 countries.
Vale stressed that Colombia has part of one of the most important regional integration currently, the Pacific Alliance. This integration is made up of Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. The alliance comprises a free trade zone for 217 million people, with a GDP per room of $ 16,759 USD.
