  • Per capita, food and beverage consumption in Colombia is low compared to other countries with a similar level of development in the region. While per capita consumption of processed food in 2019 was USD 660 in Latin America, in Colombia it was USD 429.
  • It is estimated that the food and beverage sector will have annual sales of more than USD 26.5 billion in 2023.


Bogota is the largest market and production centre for the food and beverage industry in the country

  • Bogota’s market has a higher purchase power than the rest of the country, with a GDP per capita greater in 67% than the national average.

  • The city demands 64% of Colombian total imports, and accounts for 40% of the country’s food and beverage imports. 

  • Household consumption in Bogota grew by 4% per year between 2014 and 2019.
