Bogota to be present at the 58th version of Latin America’s oldest film festival.
Latin America’s oldest film festival, the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI), returns, for the 58th time, from February 28 to March 5, and Bogota, Colombia’s audiovisual production and postproduction hub, will have a special place in the event.
Since its inception in 1960, the FICCI has encouraged risk, innovation and reinvention of Latin American cinema and the world, while always paying special attention to the development of Colombian cinema and its international outreach. This artistic and cultural event is considered the home and platform for national cinema, because each year it supports its growth, development and strengthening on the regional and global scenarios.
In the past, the event has been attended by great directors such as Alejandro González Iñárritu (Mexico), Carlos Reygadas (Mexico) or Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand). The FICCI has served as cradle for different films already recognized worldwide for their participation at the Cannes, Locarno, Toulouse and Venice festivals, such as Señorita María (Rubén Mendoza), El Silencio de los Fusiles (Natalia Orozco) o Los Nadie (Juan Sebastián Mesa), among others.
As mentioned, Bogota will have a special place during the days of the event. The capital will present, among the more than 400 projections, a 20" advertising spot, called Bogota Distrito Audiovisual.
Moreover, the Festival will again experience the Puerto FICCI space. This seeks to be a driving force for the film industry in the region by bringing together different national and international organizations of the sector. In this space, Bogota will be presented as an 'Audiovisual Creative District’, attended by national and international guests from the film industry, for whom Invest in Bogota will serve as support.
In addition to an annual average of 3,700 graduates in careers related to the audiovisual sector, Bogota highlights a wide range of locations that can allow producers to create varied scenarios for any type of production.
