The Bogota Convention Bureau becomes a new business unit at Invest in Bogota to consolidate tourism promotion and attraction of events in Bogota and Region.
Through this new business unit, with public-private support, the strategy of events attraction, international positioning as a destination, economic reactivation and, therefore, business opportunities for the events and meetings industry will be strengthened.
Invest in Bogota (IIB) announces the creation of its new business unit to attract events in the city. This decision was taken after the dissolution of the Bogota Convention Bureau (BCB) and represents for the capital and the region the possibility of strengthening the investment and events attraction strategy in a single entity.
This unit will be called the Bogota Convention Bureau and will start its operation in November of this year, achieving a transition process that favors the continuity of the activities that the entity of the same name had been developing since its missionary status.
The decision has as a reference model in the country ProColombia, which integrates under the figure of a single national entity the promotion of investment and the attraction of events, as well as Invest in Dubai as an international reference. Similarly, ProBarranquilla and Invest in Santa Marta operate under this figure.
The new scheme also contemplates the creation of a Sectorial Committee in IIB, which will function as a consultative space for businessmen/women in the meetings industry, articulated with the Business Tourism and Events Cluster of the CCB.
Meanwhile, the District Tourism Institute (IDT) Director, Karol Fajardo Mariño commented: “the work of so many years of the Convention Bureau will be strengthened with the administration at Invest in Bogota, which will allow to continue with the public-private management that we have been working on to attract events and meetings for the city, also it complements the consolidation of the offer and promotion of the capital as a MICE destination, which is what we do at IDT ”.
The resources, sustainability and mission of the new business unit within IIB will have the CCB´s and District´s support, as main partners of IIB. This will also strengthen the roles of each entity (IIB, CCB and IDT) in a complementary and coordinated way.
Camila Delgadillo, Commercial and Marketing Manager of BCB, said: “We restate that the Bureau doesn´t stop and it is precisely to give continuity to the promotion and international positioning of Bogota, through the capture of events, that we will strengthen the great city promotion agency, being part of IIB”.
The strategy represents an opportunity to boost the attraction of events for the city, the city´s international positioning and, therefore, increase business opportunities for the events and meetings industry.
