The aim of the campaign is to attract IT companies, particularly CRM software, cloud computing, electronic design, networking, and SaaS (Software as a Service) companies, which by investing in Bogota generate good quality employment and enrich the technology-based services ecosystem of Bogota.
During the visit, Invest in Bogota will join the North American tour of Bancoldex in San Francisco to participate in the conference that it has organized, with famous capital management companies, to search for new investors.
Juan Gabriel Pérez, Executive Director of Invest in Bogota, states, “The abundant and qualified workforce of Bogota, with experience in IT services, development of corporate software services, digital content, and engineering makes the city an ideal location for the establishment of technology-based service companies. The city has 115 higher education institutions, from which 104,000 people a year graduate with professional and technical degrees. Out of these institutions, 35 offer programs for the technology sector, and the city has more than 33% of Colombia’s graduates with technical and technology degrees. Additionally, it stands out in the country for its technology and innovation capacity: 65% of the country’s software development companies and more than 2,200 active research groups are present in Bogota.”
Mr. Pérez continues, “The technology and innovation sector is one of Bogota’s great investments. The capital city now has an industry with ample experience in tailor-made software development as well as the development of systems for industry, with the presence of important companies including Google, IBM, Unity, Globant and Teravision Games. We are working toward the continued enrichment of this ecosystem with the attraction of foreign companies that facilitate the transfer of knowledge, technology, and good practices to add value to the city and improve its competitiveness.”
