• Bogota was selected as the venue for the Annual Convention of the American Society of Travel Writers SATW in 2022, an event that brought together more than 200 of the main specialized tourism journalists, mainly from the United States and Canada.
• The event was held from September 7 to 12, 2022, and included, in addition to the convention, tours of the different tourist attractions in the city and its surroundings, becoming a showcase of the capital for the world.
Bogota D.C., September 20, 2022. Bogota was the venue for the Annual Convention of the American Society of Travel Writers – SATW 2022, an event captured thanks to the joint work between the District Institute of Tourism (IDT), ProColombia, and the Bureau of Conventions of Bogotá, contributing to the goals set for the sector, in the District Development Plan 2020 – 2024.
This event was the largest press trip that has come to Bogota and Colombia and was attended by more than 200 journalists specializing in tourism, who came to see the Colombian capital and its tourist attractions, seeking content generation, alliances, and contacts with the Colombian media.
This was a job that took more than a year in the process of achieving this important meeting, the candidacy was sent and the inspection visits were carried out, concluding in the convention held in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from 3 to 7 October 2021, in which Bogota was announced as the official venue for 2022, beating destinations such as Alabama, Louisiana in the United States or Japan.

The convention represented a high impact on the host destination, in terms of visibility and international image in the short, medium, and long term; as well as economic and social development, within the framework of economic recovery and reactivation.
Invest in Bogota, a public-private agency of the Bogota Mayor’s Office and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce is the city’s entity that attracts foreign investment and promotes the city internationally as a place of business, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
