The International Agro-food and Environmental Hub (HIA) opens in Bogota
The Hub is an initiative led by Naturall Group.
It will be a key resource for the internationalization of companies in the agro-food and environmental industries in the Bogota Region: a sector that has been given priority by the city in terms of attracting investments.
It was created as a means to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by free trade agreements on the country's agro-industrial and agricultural sectors.
The Bogota Region has interesting opportunities for agro-industrial operations.
The International Agro-Food and Environmental Hub - HIA will open this coming Wednesday, February 6th; this initiative is led by Naturall Group, a Colombian company dedicated to facilitating business opportunities, technological transfer, innovation projects and investment in the agro-food sector.
David Melo, representative for Invest in Bogota, stated: "the opening of the international agro-food hub will be a key resource for the internationalization of companies in the agro-food and environmental industries in the Bogota Region. This sector has been prioritized by us as the agency for the promotion of investment in the Capital City, as it generates quality jobs for the region as well as knowledge and technology transfer".
"The Bogota Region has interesting opportunities for agro-industrial operations, on account of: (i) the availability of land in different altitudes with temperatures ranging from 12ºC to 27ºC; (ii) the supply of raw materials coming from Cundinamarca, and the presence of Corabastos in Bogota, the third largest produce market in Latin America, which ensures a constant inflow of foodstuffs; (iii) the foodstuff industry existing in the region, with approximately 400 companies (36% of such companies in Colombia), among them 27 beverages and foodstuffs multinationals; (iv) its privileged geographical location, which allows access to a local market comprised by 10 million people with high per-capita income, and a regional market of 1.300 million people, leveraging on the largest air-cargo terminal in Latin America; and (v) the strong institutional support in the sector, which offers fiscal incentives to investment and innovation".
The HIA will be a institutional and corporate meeting point that will bring together associations, investors, equipment vendors, producing companies, technology centers and marketers from all over the world, in order to develop commercial, investment, innovation and technology actions.
It was created as a means to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by free trade agreements on the country's agro-industrial and agricultural sectors, and the specific demand that companies (especially SMEs), industry associations and cooperatives generate in terms of their technological and productive strengthening.
The HIA will be a space with comprehensive and specialized services, that will see the participation of international companies and institutions with extensive experience such as Ingeniería Proyectos Navarra, the Dairy School of the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and Perinox, among others.
This project enjoys the support of Colombian and international organizations such as Invest in Bogota, the Spanish - Colombian Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Federation of Foodstuffs and Beverages Industries - FIAB, among others.
