iXerv Américas chose Colombia as a hub of operations
After its arrival to the country in 2019, the company prepares for the opening of a new operation with the inauguration of iXerv LABs, which is expected to double the number of job openings available.
The technology company iXerv started operations in Colombia in April 2019 with the implementation of a Service Center. After less than one year in the country, the company announced a reinvestment with the opening of its laboratories (iXerv LABs), whose focus is the research and development of human resource solutions with applications such as Chatbots, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Analytics, Integration Services, etc., all under SAP technology, the largest ERP solutions provider in the world.
The multinational has more than twelve offices in America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. The operation in Bogota covers the regions of northern Latin America, Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and in particular, operations in the United States. Regarding the local market, the main cities – Bogota, Medellin, and Cali – are covered, and projections for local operations are set for a double-digit growth in 2020.
To date, the company has created more than 30 jobs with its Service Center in Bogota, and estimates that, with the opening of the new operation in the first semester of 2020, more than 70 direct employment opportunities will be created by the end of the year. In five years, the creation of approximately 300 jobs is expected.
Julián David Velásquez, iXerv LAC’s director of operations for northern Latin America and the Caribbean explains, “The biggest motivation for starting operations in Colombia was the skilled labor. The quality of Colombian human resources is without a doubt one of the best in the region. We are following in the steps of technology giants such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Netflix.”
Information from Invest in Bogota, the agency that promotes foreign investment in the capital, highlights that Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sectors are those attracting the biggest investment in the city. “Just last year we supported the arrival of 14 IT and BPO projects that created close to 4,060 jobs in Bogota,” stated Juan Gabriel Pérez, executive director of Invest in Bogota.
Decision to Invest
The exploration of iXerv’s investment destination was accompanied by promotion agencies ProColombia and Invest in Bogota. “Multiple factors influenced our decision to choose Bogota. Its services, infrastructure, and human capital, together with the generous educational opportunities, make Bogota a key player in iXerv’s plans for expansion in the region. Also, the majority of the companies in the country have their headquarters in the city, which allows us to have greater rapprochement from the start with our commercial relations as well as maintaining them,” adds Velásquez.
“An issue that is at the heart of the government is boosting the orange economy. Investments such as iXerv confirm Colombia’s potential in information technology and artificial intelligence sectors, which contributes to creating more quality employment opportunities and developing new fields in the country in order to compete in a globalized world,” confirms Flavia Santoro, President of ProColombia.
In 2019, Bogota, through its investment promotion agency, received 48 new projects that exceeded $600,000,000 USD, which according to investors, would have created more than 7,700 jobs.
