Music industry solutions platform ONErpm arrives in Colombia

The firm, which specializes in digital distribution, marketing support for artists and trends analysis,  will start with a team of about five people in Bogota and 700 locally-registered groups and record labels.

ONErpm arrives "to offer this great mass of groups that have no label or independent label a solution to the distribution problem," company representative for Colombia, Diego Maldonado, recently explained to EFE, working as a "bridge" between the artists and different channels such as Spotify, Deezer or YouTube ..

In turn ONErpm’s CEO, Emmanuel Zunz, told EFE that they offer "solutions for the new music market."

"If you are an artist who is just starting out, we have the tools to start your career; if you’re an established artist and a 20-year career, we can also work with you; or a record company that manages 50 artists and 100 launches per year, we can also cater to your needs," he said.

The business model of this company, founded in June 2010 in New York,is based on two lines: the collection of a percentage on artists’ sales which can vary between 15% and 30%, and royalties in the case of those who distribute through platforms like YouTube.

In the case of YouTube, "we handle content rights through a license that the artists, the creators of audiovisual content, give us," says Maldonado.

In this network, according to Zunz, about 2,000 channels are managed, representing some 2 billion views per month.

The numbers in this business are huge: ONErpm points to the fact that according to the figures of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), consumption of digital music in Latin America grew by 124% in 2014, and that in Colombia alone the increase was 86%.

These results also suppose a 100% annual growth in the region and in the case of this company an expansion of 500% in this market.

"In Colombia we see a huge potential for growth, because the market is still not as well developed as it is in Mexico and Brazil. There are many opportunities to grow," says Zunz.

ONErpm, which wrrives in Colombia thanks to the investment promotion agency Invest in Bogota, has 135,000 followers registered on its site, 31,000 globally registered artists and labels, and 94,000 albums and 220,000 videos managed in the different channels, according to its official figures.
