Free trade zone regime for service companies

Bogotá is a key destination for foreign companies looking to expand their operations in Latin America. Strategically located at the heart of the continent, just a five-hour flight from cities like New York, Mexico City, and São Paulo, the region offers excellent air connectivity and logistical advantages, making it an ideal hub for regional offices, shared service centers, and international logistics hubs.

With a higher digital adoption rate than countries like Mexico, Argentina, and China, and a strong technological infrastructure, Bogotá stands out as a hub for innovation and business. Additionally, the region is home to nine permanent free trade zones and ten special permanent free trade zones, offering companies unique tax and operational incentives to enhance their commercial and service activities.

Bogotá Region’s Free Trade Zones provide preferential treatment for service sector companies, including telecommunications, logistics, technology research, and consulting, among others. These zones are categorized into three types:

  1. Permanent Free Trade Zone (PFTZ): Designated areas for multiple companies engaged in industrial and service activities.
  2. Special Permanent Free Trade Zone (SPFTZ): Designed for a single company, with no minimum space requirements, allowing for greater flexibility.
  3. Temporary Free Trade Zone: Intended for international events such as trade fairs, conferences, and exhibitions.

For companies interested in leveraging the benefits of these zones, Invest in Bogotá, in partnership with Araujo Ibarra Consultores Internacionales, offers the ABC Free Trade Zone Regime for Service Companies, a key guide to facilitate their establishment and operations under this special regime.
