03. Foreign Investment Incentives

To attract foreign investment in Colombia, the National Government offers the following incentives so those who want to invest can do so easily, quickly and at lower costs.

In this chapter you will find the current benefits that entrepreneurs or investors who develop their projects in Bogotá Region can access. Such benefits are related to:

Incentives to promote foreign investment:

• Colombian Holding Companies Regime.
• Preferential income rate of 15 % for hotel and book publishing activities or 9% for some activities carried out by state entities.
• 50 % of the investment made in energy generation projects from Non-Conventional Energy Sources (FNCE), may be deducted in income, in addition to excluding VAT on the acquisition or importation of goods and services.

Special incentives for job creation

• Income Tax Deduction: companies that hire people entering the labor market for the first time, women victims of violence, people with disabilities and older adults are eligible for a special deduction.

Incentives for imports and exports of goods and services

• VAT Exemptions: exemptions apply to exports of goods and services, imports of goods necessary for compliance with environmental regulations, and imports conducted by research or technological development centers recognized by Colciencias, among others.
