Colombia is a country with a robust environmental legal system. Our Constitution includes several principles and obligations in environmental matters. This is known as the Ecological Constitution.
To develop projects in Bogotá or in the department of Cundinamarca, interested parties must apply for different permits and / or environmental authorizations, which vary depending on the location and its purpose.
In Bogotá, the District Secretariat of Environment is the competent authority for regulation and oversight. In the municipalities of Cundinamarca, some are regulated by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca (CAR), while others fall under regional environmental authorities such as Corporinoquia and Corpoguavio. Additionally, the main authorities on environmental matters include the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA).
In this chapter, you will find information on regulations applicable to projects concerning air, water, waste, forest resources, and other related topics, along with the necessary environmental permits, licenses, visual outdoor advertising regulations, and restrictions, among others.
If you want to know more and the topics mentioned are of interest, we invite you to download the complete Chapter on the Environmental Regime in Colombia.
