Bogotá continues to consolidate its position as a destination for international congresses and knowledge-based events. From August 30 to September 1, the Colombian capital will host the XXXIII AEDEM International Conference, organized by the European Academy of Management and Business Economics (AEDEM), with EAN University serving as the host institution.
The arrival of this event in the city was supported by the Invest in Bogotá Convention Bureau, as part of its strategy to attract international events that contribute to Bogotá’s positioning, boost the economy associated with the meetings industry, and create opportunities for knowledge exchange and international networking.
The XXXIII AEDEM International Conference is designed as a forum for academic exchange where researchers from different countries and cultural backgrounds can share perspectives, compare ideas, and present research related to business management and economics.
One of the event’s defining features is its international and intergenerational nature. Established academics will share the stage with young researchers presenting progress on doctoral dissertations, master’s theses, and undergraduate final projects. The conference will also feature a hybrid format, with both in-person and virtual participation.
Holding the event in Bogotá also represents an opportunity to strengthen connections between the international academic community and the city’s business and knowledge ecosystem.
Bogotá, a Stage for Major International Events
The successful attraction of the XXXIII AEDEM International Conference is part of the work carried out by the Invest in Bogotá Convention Bureau to position the Bogotá Region as a competitive destination for international congresses, conventions, and meetings.
Through this unit, Invest in Bogotá supports associations, companies, and institutions throughout the bidding and event-attraction process by providing destination intelligence, preparing bids, coordinating site inspections, connecting organizers with suppliers and stakeholders across the value chain, and providing support to facilitate the successful delivery of events in the city.
This work has contributed to Bogotá’s international positioning in the meetings industry. The city currently ranks 36th worldwide in number of international meetings, fourth in Latin America, and first in Colombia, according to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranking.
Notably, during the first half of 2026, the Invest in Bogotá Convention Bureau secured 19 international events from 11 markets, which are expected to bring more than 5,200 attendees, generate more than 15,400 room nights, and produce an estimated economic impact of USD 5.8 million for Bogotá.
These events generate benefits that extend beyond tourism. In addition to driving activity in sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy, transportation, commerce, and specialized services, they enable Bogotá to become a platform for the exchange of knowledge, the creation of international networks, and new opportunities for cooperation.
An International Gathering Centered on Knowledge
AEDEM holds annual international meetings focused on the exchange of scientific knowledge in the fields of management and business economics. The Bogotá edition will feature panels, academic sessions, and spaces for the presentation and discussion of research.
The conference will also recognize outstanding work in areas including business organization, marketing, finance and accounting, educational innovation, e-commerce, and responsible management, among other categories.
The XXXIII AEDEM International Conference therefore reaffirms Bogotá’s capacity to attract specialized international events and highlights the role of the meetings industry as a tool for connecting the city with global networks of knowledge, academia, innovation, and business development.
