●96% of companies operating in Latin America plan to maintain or expand their presence in the region, a business services market valued at more than USD 50 billion annually.
●Artificial intelligence, specialized talent, and the nearshoring model are reshaping the industry, driving the evolution of GBS toward increasingly strategic, higher value-added operations.
Bogotá Region continues to strengthen its position as one of Latin America’s leading destinations for Shared Services Centers (SSCs) and Global Business Services (GBS), according to a new study released by Invest in Bogotá and Michael Page. The report analyzes the evolution of the industry and the trends transforming the delivery of corporate services worldwide.
The study ranks Bogotá among the Latin American cities with the highest concentration of GBS operations, alongside São Paulo and Mexico City, surpassing traditionally recognized markets such as San José and Buenos Aires. In addition, Bogotá has established itself as Latin America’s leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) hub.
“Today, Bogotá is home to 70% of the country’s GBS operations and ranks among the region’s top three hubs. These results reflect international companies’ confidence in our city’s talent and its ability to lead strategic operations with a global reach,” said Isis Durán, Executive Director of Invest in Bogotá.
The study shows that the industry is undergoing rapid transformation. GBS organizations have evolved from operational efficiency centers into strategic platforms that integrate functions such as finance, human resources, data analytics, procurement, technology, and artificial intelligence to serve multiple markets.
Currently, 75% of organizations operate under multifunctional service models, while generative artificial intelligence leads technology investment priorities, with 65% of companies identifying it as a key focus area.
“GBS organizations have evolved from support centers into true engines of business transformation. In this context, Bogotá offers the right conditions to continue attracting high-value-added operations serving Latin America,” said Daniel Camacho, Managing Director of Michael Page Colombia.
Bogotá’s strength also stems from its robust business ecosystem. Every year, the city graduates more than 80,000 professionals with profiles aligned to the sector, offers world-class technological infrastructure, and recorded more than 60% growth in foreign direct investment in knowledge-based services between 2019 and 2024.
The report also highlights that 90% of companies consider Colombia a strategic hub for their operations, while 63% of the centers established in the country have been operating for more than five years, demonstrating investor confidence and long-term stability.
