The United States Consolidates Its Leadership as Bogotá-Region’s Main Foreign Investor

• Between 2021 and 2025, Bogotá-Region received 158 investment projects from the United States, equivalent to 56.2% of all U.S. investment initiatives that arrived in Colombia.

• These investments represent an estimated US$3.179 billion and have contributed to the creation of 27,889 new jobs in Bogotá-Region.

The United States continues to consolidate its position as the leading source of foreign direct investment in Bogotá-Region, reaffirming the confidence of U.S. companies in the Colombian capital’s competitive advantages as a platform to do business, expand operations, and serve Latin American markets.

According to Invest in Bogotá, based on information from FDI Markets, Orbis Crossborder, and project certifications, between 2021 and 2025 Colombia registered 281 investment projects from the United States, of which 158 chose Bogotá-Region as their destination, representing 56.2% of the national total. In addition, 34 of these projects were certified by Invest in Bogotá, reflecting the agency’s role in attracting and supporting strategic investments.

During this period, U.S. investment has had a significant impact on Bogotá-Region’s economic development, with an estimated US$3.179 billion in investment and the creation of 27,889 new jobs. These figures confirm the United States as Bogotá-Region’s leading foreign investor, accounting for 27.6% of all investment projects received by the city-region.

The sectors with the highest number of U.S. investment projects are Corporate Services, with 39 initiatives; Software and IT Services, with 36 projects; and Retail and Consumer Products, with 21 projects. Together, these sectors account for 96 projects, more than US$655 million in investment, and nearly 19,400 jobs created, consolidating their role as key growth drivers for Bogotá-Region’s economy.

The main activities carried out by U.S. companies in the city-region are business services and sales, marketing, and support offices, confirming Bogotá’s position as a regional hub for high-value-added services and global corporate operations.

Among the companies with the strongest investment presence in Bogotá-Region during the period analyzed are Odata, Amazon, Wizeline, Organon, Ashley Furniture, and DaVita. Their projects have strengthened strategic sectors such as digital infrastructure, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and business services, contributing to the diversification and sophistication of the local economy.

The strong economic relationship between Bogotá-Region and the United States remains one of the main drivers of foreign investment attraction in Colombia. Thanks to its strategic location, human talent, infrastructure, connectivity, and increasingly dynamic business ecosystem, Bogotá-Region continues to position itself as the preferred destination for U.S. companies seeking to grow from Latin America.
