Bogotá accelerates its global appeal
Bogotá continues to consolidate its position as one of the most attractive investment destinations in Latin America. During the first quarter of 2026, Invest in Bogotá facilitated the arrival and expansion of four strategic projects, totaling USD 97 million in estimated investment and generating 705 direct jobs, reaffirming global companies’ confidence in the city.
These results not only reflect the dynamism of the business environment, but also Bogotá’s positioning as a regional hub for knowledge-intensive services, innovation, and technology.
The facilitated projects correspond to leading companies in key sectors for the city’s productive transformation:
- Cube Ventures & MKF Ventures: The Meridian 75 fund, created by partners MKF Ventures and Cube Ventures, aims to invest in early-stage technology startups with a presence in Latin America and the United States. In this context, it contributed to the entrepreneurial ecosystem by investing in a Bogotá-based tech startup and generating five direct jobs.
- Novo Nordisk: A global healthcare company and leader in research and development of treatments for chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. It has contributed to strengthening Bogotá’s clinical research ecosystem, generating 50 direct jobs and building linkages with local research centers.
- Amadeus: A global technology company and leader in travel industry solutions, connecting airlines, airports, hotels, and agencies. It expanded its technology and innovation operations, consolidating Bogotá as a strategic hub in the Americas and creating 150 direct jobs.
- Medtronic: A global leader in medical technology, specializing in innovative solutions to treat more than 70 health conditions, has strengthened its presence through its Shared Services Center (SSC), creating more than 1,000 direct jobs in high value-added areas during its seven years of operations in the country.
In addition to the projects already secured, the city continues to strengthen its investment pipeline. During the same period, 37 new investment opportunities were generated, and progress was made in consolidating a robust portfolio of projects at different stages, projecting sustained growth in the coming months.
A key aspect of these results is that 75% of the projects correspond to reinvestment, confirming the confidence of companies already established in Bogotá and their decision to continue expanding in the city-region.
Likewise, sectors such as knowledge-intensive services continue to lead in terms of number of projects, job creation, and investment volume, consolidating Bogotá as a strategic node for service exports and innovation in Latin America.
Strategic events driving the city
Bogotá continues to strengthen its position as a destination for international meetings through its strategy of attracting and supporting world-class events. During the first quarter of 2026, the Convention Bureau of Invest in Bogotá managed nine international events, generating an estimated economic impact of USD 3 million for the city.
The portfolio reflects a diversified attraction strategy: five corporate events, two association events, and two SMERF events (social, military, educational, religious, and fraternal). Source markets include the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Mexico, and Colombia, demonstrating the global reach of Bogotá’s positioning as a meetings destination.
The sectors leading the agenda are life sciences (37%), social sciences (25%), tourism and sports (13%), and economic and business sciences (12%), aligned with the city’s strategic priorities to attract knowledge and investment.
Overall, these events brought together more than 8,800 attendees and generated an estimated 9,400 hotel room nights, directly boosting the local economy and Bogotá’s tourism ecosystem.
