Bogota, September 19, 2023. From September 17 to 20, Bogota hosted the main event for tourism businesses in the city. The Vacation and MICE (meetings-incentives-conventions-exhibitions) Business Conference of Bogota – RVMBO 2023 took place at the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Chapinero headquarters on September 20.
The District Institute of Tourism (IDT), the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (CCB), the Greater Bogota Convention Bureau, and Invest in Bogota joined forces to bring this event to the city, marking a milestone for the strengthening and economic development of the tourism sector, and positioning the Colombian capital nationally and internationally.
Juan Carlos González, Vice President of Competitiveness at the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, stated: “The Vacation and MICE (meetings-incentives-conventions-exhibitions) Business Conference of Bogota – RVMBO 2023 is a joint effort where we combine capacities and resources for the benefit of tourism entrepreneurs in Bogota and the 59 municipalities under the jurisdiction of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce. This event is crucial within the competitiveness strategy of the tourism sector that we have been promoting from the Bogota Chamber of Commerce through the Tourism Cluster, and we have been supporting most participating companies, enabling them to capitalize on opportunities in these events. We hope it will be a very productive space where many business opportunities for entrepreneurs are generated.”
RVMBO 2023 was the perfect setting for approximately 150 attendees, including around 150 entrepreneurs as sellers and buyers, to finalize more than 900 business meetings with national and international entrepreneurs from Argentina, Guatemala, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, as well as from Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Medellín, Manizales, Pereira, Putumayo, and Puerto Asis, Cali, with expected sales estimated at more than 9,000 million pesos.
Meanwhile, Andrés Clavijo, director of IDT, stated: “For the District Institute of Tourism, it is a priority to create these marketing spaces, promote business, contacts, and strategic alliances with organizations interested in the tourist products that our city offers, because if tourism grows, employment in the sector also grows, and the competitiveness of Bogota improves. From September 17 to 19, buyer companies experienced different activities through Fam Trips designed to enjoy and firsthand explore the gastronomic, cultural, rural, and other tourist offerings for tourists, visitors, and residents.
Within the framework of this Business Conference, an academic agenda was also carried out to strengthen the capacities of selling companies and other tourism companies in Bogota and the region, featuring speakers addressing topics of interest to sector entrepreneurs.
